Acadiana Regional Airport:

Acadiana Regional Airport is a fully-certificated General Aviation Airport featuring an 8,002-foot long, 200-foot wide lighted concrete runway and fully instrumented airfield, strategically situated between the major markets of Houston and New Orleans. The Airport Industrial Park offers land to expand, with 1,200 acres available for development, including prime runway and taxiway frontage.

Located just north of U.S. Highway 90 (the future Interstate 49 corridor) and just south of Louisiana Highway 182, the airport also features direct rail access, a 5,000-foot lighted water runway for amphibious aircraft, and a rail-to-truck off loading facility. And the airport’s close proximity to the Port of Iberia and its 13-foot-deep main navigation channel spotlights the intermodal transportation available. By air, water or ground, you can watch your business take off at Acadiana Regional Airport.

Port of Iberia:

The Port of Iberia is a 2,000 acre industrial and manufacturing site surrounding a manmade port complex. The port has access to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico through its own Commercial Canal and has access to the Mississippi River through major ports in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

The Port of Iberia has expanded its waterfront property and has completed new bulk heading and dredging projects. The possibilities are unlimited when you add to this the existing industrial facilities, the constant flow of raw materials, and the multimillion dollar public dock facility.

Progress Point Business Park:

Progress Point Business Park will be a 50-acre mixed-use commercial park located adjacent to Acadiana Regional Airport in Iberia Parish.

Featuring easy access from U.S. Highway 90, Progress Point will offer tenants the latest in fiber optic connectivity, underground utilities and a variety of lot sizes ideal for retail, office, warehouse and corporate space.

Iberia Parish offers a number of plausible options with regards to secondary education, technical training and workforce development programs:

Acadiana Technical College Teche Area Campus: The Acadiana Technical College system delivers instructional programs which provide skilled employees for business and industry that contribute to the overall economic development and workforce needs of the state. The ATC provides individuals with quality and relevant learning opportunities consistent with identified student, business and industry needs within a life-long learning environment. Diploma courses offered include carpentry, communications and electronics, electrician, industrial electronics technology, welding, office systems technologies and many others.

South Louisiana Community College—New Iberia Campus: SLCC offers associate degrees in a variety of courses including: criminal justice, early childhood education, emergency health science, general business, industrial technology, general studies (in 5 different concentration areas), and liberal arts. General courses offered encompass a wide diversity of topics including accounting, communication, economics, finance, microcomputer information systems, political science and many others.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette: Second largest university in Louisiana with an enrollment of over 16,000 students • Regional and national recognition for excellence in areas such as Computer Science and Environmental Biology. Marine Survival Training Center, Primate Center and Center for Advanced Computer Studies are also available and sought after curriculums.

Workforce Development and Training Program: Used to develop and fund customized workforce training programs for a new or expanding business. Eligibility: businesses planning to locate a facility in the state, businesses expanding their current operation within the state by adding a new area location and existing Louisiana businesses that have been in operation less than 3 years if all qualifications are met.

When speaking of education, it is worth noting the Workforce Investment Act (WIA): This initiative can provide reimbursement to the employer of up to 75% of an employee’s wages earned during the training period and offers placement assistance to employers with job openings.
