Mosquito surveillance has indicated the need for aerial intervention. It is important that these populations be addressed. The District will conduct aerial operations over the next several evenings starting Wednesday evening (8/22) in Jeanerette, Thursday (8/23) Grand Marais and Friday (8/24) Willow Wood. The District is asking citizens If you must be outdoors --- wear repellent, cover exposed skin and avoid outdoor activity when mosquitoes are most active. If weather conditions are favorable operations will begin near sunset and last approximately one and one-half hours (1.5) each evening. PRESS RELEASE

The District is asking citizens If you must be outdoors --- wear repellent, cover exposed skin and avoid outdoor activity when mosquitoes are most active. If weather conditions are favorable operations will begin near sunset and last approximately one and one-half hours (1.5) each evening.
During this period, only hypersensitive individuals or persons that wish to avoid all exposure to chemicals in the designated spray area should refrain from outdoor activities; otherwise all other citizens can proceed with normal outdoor activities!
Citizens will notice low flying aircraft --- If the aircraft is overhead DO NOT attempt to follow the path of the aircraft. The aircraft is traveling quickly and will be out of the area in a brief period!
Wednesday (8/22) operations will focus in Jeanerette, specifically from the St. Mary parish line, Pecan Ln., Rightway Rd., Hwy. 90 & Back Rd. in the east to Sorrel Rd., Old Jeanerette Rd., Hwy. 182, Darnall Rd., and Ozenne Rd., E. Admiral Doyle and all points in between.
Thursday (8/23) operations will focus in Grand Marais, Rynella, Migues, Laurent, Lydia, Weeks Island Rd., College Rd., Collins Rd., Cora Ln. and all points in between.
Friday (8/24) operations will focus in Willow Wood, Daspit, Lucerne, Willow Wood park, Crochet Rd., Loreauville Rd., Bell Church Rd. and all points in between.
