Good points from the LA Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP):
“This is the time of year we typically see an increase in tropical activity,” said GOHSEP Director Jim Waskom. “We encourage everyone to use this time in order to re-check your emergency supplies and finalize your emergency plans. As we saw with a flash flood event in New Orleans over the weekend, it does not take a hurricane or tropical storm to cause major problems. Be aware of the conditions for your area. Listen for weather alerts from the media and the National Weather Service. Learn what those notifications mean. Keep your phones and other devices charged. Avoid driving across flooded roadways. There is information available at GOHSEP’s http://www.getagameplan.org website on protecting you, your homes, your business and your pets. Many of your local emergency agencies also have great information on websites and social media. If you have friends or loved ones without access to cell phones or the internet, please make sure you help keep them informed about any weather threat.”
