Curfews are in effect from 10PM to 6AM tonight within the city limits of New Iberia, Jeanerette and Delcambre. Voluntary evacuation by those living South of U.S. Highway 90 and in flood prone areas is highly recommended. Tropical Storm force wind gusts (over 39mph) are forecast for the next 15 – 18 hours in Iberia Parish. Iberia Parish’s forecast rainfall is 1” before 7pm tonight, 3” – 4” between 7PM tonight and 1AM Sunday, 3” – 4” between 1AM Sunday and 7AM Sunday, and 1” between 7AM Sunday and 1PM Sunday


From the National Weather Service:

Barry is now a category one hurricane with winds of 75 mph.

Life-threatening rainfall of 10 to 15 inches with locally higher amounts is forecast for St. Mary, Iberia, and St. Martin Parishes. People could be trapped in homes due to the flood waters.

Storm surge over 3 feet is expected for coastal sections of Vermilion, Iberia, and St. Mary Parishes. This includes Intracoastal City, Delcambre, Henry, Cypremort Point, and Burns Point.

Damaging winds will cause scattered to numerous power outages, trees blown down, and damage to homes and businesses across southwest, south central, and central Louisiana. Isolated power outages and damages will be possible in southeast Texas.

Isolated tornadoes are possible along the path of this storm in south central and central Louisiana.
