The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is already seeing some light sleet mixed with patchy light rain in parts of east Texas and central Louisiana this morning.

The overall rain total will be light today (less than a tenth of an inch), and no accumulation of ice is expected. As long as temperatures stay above freezing, the sleet will melt. If temperatures fall below freezing, elevated roads and bridges would be the main place to see some slick spots. Highs are expected to only be in the 30s today.

Further south along the I-10 corridor or southeast Texas and southwest and south central Louisiana, we will see patchy light rain today. Temperatures will hold in the 30s as well. There is a small chance for a little sleet mixed in later this afternoon or evening, but no ice accumulation is expected. Temperatures should stay above freezing until this evening.

After the precipitation ends this evening, we will see cold temperatures overnight. Lows will range from the lower 20s in east Texas and central Louisiana to the mid 20s along the I-10 corridor of southeast Texas and southwest and south central Louisiana.
