beria Parish – Here is our latest National Weather Service update:
The National Hurricane Center has increased the chances for a tropical depression to form in the western Gulf of Mexico to a medium (50%) chance - mainly in the Wednesday through Friday time frame. A tropical wave will move across the Yucatan the next couple of days before entering the southern Gulf of Mexico as it heads west towards Texas The main weather feature for us is a distinct heavy rain pattern for this entire work week. especially in southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana where as much as 5 to 7 inches of rain is expected this week. Locally higher amounts are possible. In addition, tides will run a foot above normal this week, which may cause some minor coastal flooding during high tide.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic, three hurricanes - Florence, Isaac, and Helene, pose no risk to our region over the next week |
