Iberia Parish – From the NWS in Lake Charles:
Tropical Depression 14 formed last night and is beginning to slowly organize east of the Yucatan peninsula. Aircraft will be investigating this system this afternoon and there is a high likelihood that the system could be upgraded to a tropical storm later today or tonight. The next storm would be named Michael. The system is forecasted to move north and then northeast through the eastern Gulf of Mexico Monday and Tuesday. TD 14 is expected to become a hurricane before landfall early Wednesday between the Mississippi coast and Florida Panhandle.
As the system move through the Gulf, we will continue to have tides above normal. Minor coastal flooding may occur during periods of high tide high tide Monday afternoon through Wednesday.
No significant inland impacts are anticipated with this system.
