LOUISIANA WATER CO MPANY 448 East Main Street • New Iberia, Louisiana 70560 IMPORTANT PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT New Iberia - Louisiana Water Company (LAWCO) in New Iberia, Louisiana is issuing a Boil Water Advisory (BWA) effective immediately at the recommendation of the OPH-DHH for the following critical health care facilities in Iberia Parish;

This BWA does not mean the water is contaminated, but rather due to low pressures, the water quality is unknown and customers should take appropriate precautions. Once system pressures return to normal, water samples will be collected at normal TCR sample sites in your area and tested to verify the water quality. These tests take approximately 24 hours to complete. Once testing is completed, these facilities will be notified when the BWA has been rescinded.

Under a Boil Water Advisory, it is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:

Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (the flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water boiled.)

Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.

If you have any questions or need any additional information, please contact the LAWCO

customer service office at (337) 365-0002.
