From the NWS in Lake Charles:
TD 17 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Olga. Olga is located over the northwest Gulf is expected to merge and weaken with the approaching cold this evening. This front is already through southeast Texas and a large part of southwest Louisiana late this afternoon. Olga is expected to be inland over south central Louisiana by late tonight. No tropical warnings will be issued.
Locally, we can expect the following impacts:
Rainfall:
Southwest Louisiana: 0.50 -1.00 inch
South Central Louisiana: 0.50 - 1.5 inches
Central Louisiana: 1-2 inches locally 4 inches
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for southwest, south central, and central Louisiana until 10 PM this evening.
Coastal Flooding :
Vermilion, Iberia and St. Mary Parishes: 1.5 - 2 feet above normal with minor coastal flooding at high tide through early Saturday morning.
A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 7AM Saturday for south central and parts of southwest Louisiana.
The heavy rain threat should end this evening and the coastal flood potential should end Saturday morning.
