Dear Iberia Parish Residents:

Like the rest of the State of Louisiana, Iberia Parish is no stranger to drainage concerns. Hurricanes, rain events and tidal issues impact many Iberia Parish residents. FEMA has provided an opportunity for Iberia Parish Government to apply for federally-funded grants on behalf of certain qualified properties to assist in reducing repetitive losses from flood events.

The grant program is available to assist in identifying and elevating the homes of our most vulnerable residents to prevent damage and disruption which occurs from repetitive flooding events. FEMA can pay most of the costs for elevating homes that qualify for participation in the grant program. However, there will be minimal costs for participationin the program and any and all costs over and above those paid by FEMA must be paid by the homeowner. No Iberia Parish Government funds can be spent to assist eligible grant applicants.

Iberia Parish Government has scheduled an informational meeting for those who are interested in participating in the home elevation grant program. This meeting will be held at the Sliman Theatre, located at 129 East Main Street, New Iberia, Louisiana, on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at 6:00 p.m.
