Heavy rains from tropical rains, Hurricanes Laura and Delta have produced tremendous mosquito populations across southwest Louisiana. GOHSEP and FEMA have issued a mission directive for United States Air Force (910th Airwing) C-130 aerial mosquito spraying. Operations will be conducted over 7 parishes: Acadia, Calcasieu, Cameron, Iberia, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette and Vermilion. Operations will begin Tuesday (10/20) evening in Cameron parish. Further messaging will go out regarding the exact evening the 910th will conduct operations in Iberia. If weather conditions are favorable operations will begin near sunset and last approximately five hours (5). During this period, only hypersensitive individuals or persons that wish to avoid all exposure to chemicals in the designated spray area should refrain from outdoor activities; otherwise all other citizens can proceed with normal outdoor activities!
Citizens will notice low flying aircraft --- If the aircraft is overhead DO NOT attempt to follow the path of the aircraft. The aircraft is traveling quickly and will be out of the area in a brief period!
USAF 910th operations, when scheduled will target Iberia parish. Coteau Holmes, Loreauville, Sugar Oaks, Vida Shaw, Daspit, Coteau, Jeanerette, the City of New Iberia, Delcambre, Port of New Iberia, Lydia, Avery Island, Weeks Island and all points in between.
