JOB POSTING (06/28/2021) IBERIA PARISH GOVERNMENT, LOUISIANA Job Title: Executive Director, Sewerage District Department: Sewerage District No.1


Under minimal direction of the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Iberia Parish Sewerage District No. 1, the Executive Director is responsible for overseeing and administering all operations and activities of Iberia Parish Sewerage District No. 1.

Duties and Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, coordinates daily work activities: organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.

Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.

Consults with Board of Supervisors and Board committees. Coordinates implementation of departmental polices, makes recommendations concerning Board polices, plans, and procedures; executes and administers all polices, plans, negotiated provisions, rules, and regulations of the Board; develops and executes personnel procedures and practices.

Develops the budget for the department and submits to Board for approval; approves and directs all purchases and expenditures within approved budget; submits financial statements for previous year and recommendations for upcoming year.

Conducts inspections of sewerage lines as needed. Preparers, completes, receives; various forms, reports, time sheets, laboratory test results, maps, blueprints, architectural drawings, and/or other documents.

Promotes positive customer relations; provides information to the community about department services.

Communicates with Board members, Parish officials, employees, other departments, contractors, engineers, vendors, attorneys, residents, customers, outside agencies, etc., as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, resolve problems, or give/receive advice and/or direction.

Attends meetings, serves on committee as needed, makes speeches or presentations.

Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of appliable laws/regulations; maintains an awareness of new trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; attends training, etc., as appropriate.

Responds to emergency calls for major problems or emergency assistance as needed.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Training and Experience:

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in business administration, waste water collection, and waste water treatment plant operations; supplemented by ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience and/or training that includes waste water collection, waste water treatment plant operations, budgeting, and general management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must have a valid driver’s license.
