To further reduce and limit the spread of COVID-19, Governor Edwards issued a general stay-at-home order today for persons not performing essential activities effective from 5:00 pm, Monday, March 23, 2020 to Monday, April 13, 2020 unless terminated sooner. People can still leave their homes to do essential activities such as buying groceries, picking up medicine, going outside for exercise or fresh air or going to work if their job is essential. Example given of essential worker functions are

.Healthcare workers and caregivers

•Mental Health and Social Service workers

•Pharmacy employees

•Workers supporting groceries, pharmacies and other retail sales of food and beverage products

•Restaurant carry-out and quick serve food delivery workers

•Farm workers

•Electricity and Utility Industry workers (medical supply chains, energy, transportation, food, chemicals)

•Petroleum, Natural and Propane Gas workers

•Transportation and Logistics workers

•Financial Services and Banking Industry workers

State office buildings were ordered closed to the public with essential government functions to continue. Additionally, all gatherings of ten (10) or more people are to be postponed and cancelled.

Iberia Parish Government will be working with its department heads, agencies, boards and commissions to determine how this stay-at-home order should be implemented while at the same continuing essential government functions.

Everyone is urged to continue to support our local healthcare facilities, pharmacies, grocery stores, restaurants and other businesses that remain open during this difficult time, as well as their dedicated employees.

If you must be out while this stay-at-home order is in effect, please remember to maintain minimum contact with other members of the public and essential employees by exercising proper social distancing and follow the preventive measures previously outlined in the Administrative Press Release
