PUBLIC HEARINGS TO OBTAIN COMMENTS REGARDING THE PROPOSED ADOPTION OF REAPPORTIONMENT PLAN FOR

IBERIA PARISH COUNCIL DISTRICTS

In accordance with Section 2-02. Reapportionment B. of the Iberia Parish Home Rule Charter, the Iberia Parish Council announces Public Hearings to be held (or previously held) to consider proposed Ordinances effecting reapportionment for the Iberia Parish Council Districts as follows: (a) January 12th at the Executive Committee meeting and (b) January 26th and February 9th at the Iberia Parish Council meetings.

The purpose of these public hearings is to obtain public comments on a proposed Reapportionment Plan to be adopted for the Iberia Parish Council Districts based on the 2020 Census. Reapportionment Plans 2 and 2b were considered by the Executive Committee at its January 12th meeting. The Executive Committee has recommended Plan 2 for consideration by the Iberia Parish Council. Plan 2 may be viewed on Iberia Parish Government’s website at the link below.

Persons wishing to address the Committee and/or Council regarding the Reapportionment Plans are encouraged to attend any of the remaining aforementioned meetings to express their comments. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers, located on the Fourth Floor of the Main Court Building (300 Iberia Street, New Iberia). The Iberia Parish Council meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.

At this time, visitors to the Main Court Building shall be required to practice social distancing and wear a face mask. You must provide your own mask.
