IBERIA PARISH GOVERNMENT PRESS RELEASE
M. Larry Richard
Parish President
The Tropical Storm Warning for Iberia Parish has been lifted by the National Weather Service and Tropical Storm Cindy has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression. So far, some flooded roads and a downed tree are the only storm related damages reported in Iberia Parish.
Iberia Parish Government and the Iberia Parish Courthouse will reopen tomorrow morning, Friday, June 23rd.
Although TS Cindy has been downgraded to a tropical depression, weather hazards to Iberia Parish will continue throughout today in the form of unusually high tides, wind gusts of 25 - 35 MPH and occasional heavy rains as rain bands continue to pass over Iberia Parish. Iberia Parish is currently under a Coastal Flood Warning due to tides running 2 to 3 feet above normal and the next high tide in Iberia Parish will be late this morning and early afternoon. Rain bands in our area are capable of producing 2 to 5 inches of rain. These conditions may cause further coastal flooding, isolated power outages, hazardous driving conditions and fallen trees until this evening and Iberia Parish residents should continue to exercise caution when moving about the Parish.
Iberia Parish is also under a Tornado Watch as these rain bands have the potential to produce isolated tornadoes though this afternoon.
Iberia Parish Government, The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, the Iberia Parish Fire District, and our municipalities met this morning to review these continuing weather hazards and our continuing response efforts.
Iberia Parish residents can find emergency related information from Iberia Parish Government at the Facebook page of the Iberia Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Prepare ess/911 and at 232-HELP.
