Iberia Parish President M. Larry Richard – The NWS has significantly increased the possibility of tropical development

The possibility of tropical development by the disturbance Invest 99L. This probability of tropical cyclone development has risen to 60% in the next two days and 80% in the next five days. Here is the NWS update on Invest 99L from our 2PM Conference Call: ...


- NOAA reconnaissance flight currently investigating.

- System remains somewhat disorganized.

- Upper level winds should improve as the system moves into the Gulf.

- Probability of development

- Next 48 hours – 60 percent

- Over next 5 days – 80 percent

- Model guidance still has varying solutions during next 5 days from Florida Panhandle to North of Tampa, however many try to bring it into the central Gulf before moving north and then northeast.

- struggle with weak, poorly defined systems.

- Main emphasis is to continue to monitor and review plans.
