Recent heavy rains have hampered ground operations ahead of next week’s Sugar Cane Festival. The Iberia Parish Mosquito Abatement District will conduct aerial operations over the incorporated municipalities of Iberia parish Tuesday (9/24) evening, weather permitting, in an effort to provide a pleasant experience for out of town visitors and local residents as they attend Sugar Cane Festival events.
Operations will begin after sundown and last approximately two and one half (2.5) hours. Residents may notice multiple aircraft overhead.
During this period, only hypersensitive individuals or persons that wish to avoid all exposure to chemicals in the designated spray area should refrain from outdoor activities; otherwise all other citizens can proceed with normal outdoor activities!
Citizens will notice a low flying aircraft --- If the aircraft is overhead DO NOT look up to stare or attempt to follow the path of the aircraft. The aircraft is traveling quickly and will be out of the area in a brief period!
Operations Tuesday (9/24) night will target the incorporated municipalities of Iberia Parish as follows:
The City of New Iberia --- Squirrel Run, Acadian Acres, Belle Place Olivier, Morbihan, Cleco Rd. and all points in between.
The City of Jeanerette --- Hwy 87, Marais, Admiral Doyle, St. Mary Parish line, Hwy 807, Right Way Rd., LSU Bridge and all points in between.
The Town of Delcambre --- Delcambre Canal, Dooley, Bilbo, Hwy 14, E. LeBlanc, Pitre and all points in between.
The Town of Loreauville --- Bronson, Patio, Cestia, Twin Pines, Roe and all points in between.
