Iberia Parish President M. Larry Richard – Here is this mornings’ NWS update for our area:
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is monitoring a weak low pressure area or trough off the Texas coast this morning. This system has a low (10%) chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, however it will keep our rain chances and tide running high today. As much as an inch of rain is expected for southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana today, with locally higher amounts of 3 to 5 inches possible. If the heavy rain falls over areas that are still dealing with high water from the heavy rains two weekends ago, water levels may actually rise temporarily during and right after the rain. Tides will be going out this afternoon, so no coastal flood threat is expected through this evening.
