From Iberia Parish President M. Larry Richard – Here is this afternoon’s tropical weather update from the NWS:
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is monitoring 3 tropical disturbances. The one closest to the Gulf of Mexico is a weak low pressure system between Cuba and Florida, that has a medium (40%) chance of development, per NHC. This system is projected to move across the southern Gulf of Mexico over the next week. While no immediate threat to our region is seen right now, we will have to monitor this system closely though the weekend and next week.
Two other tropical waves further out in the northeastern Caribbean and tropical Atlantic are not anticipated to be a threat to our region in the next week or so.
