The exercise will take place on June 10th and 11th and will focus on a category 4 hurricane making landfall on the southwest coast of Louisiana. The exercise will involve Acadia Parish, Calcasieu Parish, Evangeline Parish, Iberia Parish, St. Landry Parish, St. Martin Parish, St. Mary Parish and Vermilion Parish. The exercise will give all local agencies a chance to evaluate their response, and capabilities to function during a catastrophic hurricane. Some of the capabilities which will be tested during the exercise are Communications, Critical Resource Logistics and Distribution, Emergency Operations Center Management, Emergency Public Information and Warning, Fatality Management, Mass Care, Medical Surge, Planning and Restoration of Lifelines. The exercise is a continuing evaluation process by the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness to make sure that all government agencies and public service providers are ready for the 2009 Hurricane Season.
