Responsibilities Include but Not Limited To

Under regular supervision, greets and assists visitors, monitors exhibits, provides information about displays and ensures the museum remains clean and safe. Additional tasks related to visitor services, administrative duties, and overall upkeep may be performed as required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greet and assist visitors as they enter and move around the museum
  • Provide information about exhibits, museum history, and policies
  • Monitor museum areas to ensure the safety of the museum’s collections
  • Answer visitor questions and provide directions within the museum
  • Conduct museum tours and educational programs
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling exhibits
  • Keep the museum areas clean and tidy
  • Handle visitor admissions
  • Maintain records of museum attendance and visitor feedback
  • Support in emergency situations by implementing evacuation procedures
  • Ensure compliance with museum policies and procedures

Minimum Training & Experience

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent as a minimum requirement and possess previous customer service experience, ideally in a museum or similar setting. A solid understanding of the history of the Jeanerette area, which is central to the museum’s focus, is also essential, along with excellent communication skills. Basic computer skills for processing admissions are also required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.
