The Iberia Parish Rabies and Animal Control facility operates the Animal Shelter located at 2017 Seaway Access Road. The shelter is open for intake/animal drop off from 7:00 am-10:00 am Monday through Friday. Animal adoptions from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Owner reclaim hours 7:00 am through 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
The Iberia Parish Rabies and Animal Control Department’s main purpose is to provide a public health program to ensure rabies vaccination and registration for all dogs and cats residing in Iberia Parish. The program includes enforcing the rabies and leash law ordinances, inclusive of animal quarantine and observation due to animal bites.
The shelter also houses unwanted and stray animals picked up by animal control officers, or dropped off at the shelter by citizens.
The shelter has an adoption program which consists of a variety of cats and dogs. All animals are required to be spayed/neutered and rabies vaccinated prior to adoption. Dog adoption fee is $80, Cat adoption fee is $50. Therefore, a money order only is requested at the time of adoption. The fee provides the animal with the spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, routine vaccination, and microchip.
The shelter also has feral/community outdoor only cats available free of charge. They are all vaccinated and spayed/neutered. These cats make great barn/outdoor cats and work well as pest control.

Iberia Parish Rabies Control works with approved 501c3 non-profit organizations and does not charge a pull fee. A rescue contract shall be signed for rescue to assume ownership of any animals being transferred.
