This system in the gulf, regardless of formation, will pose a threat to us that is not common in this area. We will not be expecting the hydrological threats we are used to seeing.
In fact, over the next seven days, we are expecting anywhere between no rain and half an inch at most! The threat that it poses will come from the winds. We are in a drought as we have been for months now and we have seen wildfires break out across the area. Sustained winds of up to 20MPH with gusts of up to 30MPH along with low RH minimums of around 25-30% creates the potential for fire danger.
(As a reminder, the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry announced a statewide burn ban for the State of Louisiana last week and this burn ban remains in effect.)
