Iberia Parish is expecting hot and humid conditions for Independence Day, with heat index values potentially reaching dangerous levels. If you’re planning to be outdoors for celebrations, please take precautions:

  •  Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water

  •  Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning

  •  Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing

  •  Check on the elderly, young children, and pets

  •  Never leave people or animals in a parked car

Signs of heat illness include dizziness, nausea, rapid pulse, and confusion. If symptoms appear, seek medical help immediately.
