Responsibilities Include but Not Limited To
Under regular supervision, drives and operates trucks, motor vehicle, and equipment and performs manual labor associated with assigned projects/activities. Performs related work as required. Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent.
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs road maintenance by moving dirt, patching holes, cleaning ditches, loading sandbags, removing debris from the roadway, directing traffic, etc.
- Drives truck to put gravel on Parish roads. Performs maintenance on both of the trucks. Loads materials.
- Supervises inmates.
- Ensures safety of equipment.
- Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as work orders, maintenance report, and list of notes provided by supervisor.
- Prepares and/or processes various records and reports such as work order and maintenance report.
- Refers to material safety data sheet, address sheet, operation manual, personnel manual, safety manual, codes/ laws/ regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.
- Operates a variety of vehicles, equipment, and machinery such as dump truck, eighteen-wheeler, front-end loader, packer, etc.
- Uses a variety of tools such as shovel, grease gun, rake, chainsaw, wrench, etc.; and a variety of supplies such as oil, grease, gravel, hot mix, diesel, etc.
Minimum Training & Experience
Requires a high school diploma or a GED equivalent supplemented by some experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid Louisiana Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a truck. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or up to twenty-five pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Work involved driving, pushing, pulling, and lifting and carrying weights of up to fifty pounds.
