This afternoon, Warren Gachassin Jr., Iberia Parish Council Chairman and District 5 Councilman, was the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of New Iberia.
As a new member of the Rotary Club, Council Chairman Gachassin shared valuable insights on several topics. He discussed the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) between the Water & Sewer Department and gave a summary of completed, current, and future projects in Iberia Parish. He highlighted the successes of developing in-house inspection services and new software implementation that will, in the future, streamline processes with Permits, Planning & Zoning.
Gachassin also provided updates on the newly implemented road tax and the development of a comprehensive road program. He gave an update on the progress at First Solar and its nearby storage facility, as well as Delta BioFuel which will be operational within the next 30 – 45 days.
Additionally, he covered American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) infrastructure investments, focusing on water, sewer, and fiber improvements, as well as solid waste improvements through a new collections contract.
Emphasizing the importance of strong administration and council relations in driving these initiatives forward, he underscored the ongoing commitment of the Iberia Parish leadership to enhancing infrastructure and services for our community. His insights into these key initiatives reflect our collective effort to build a stronger, more resilient parish.
We appreciate his dedication and look forward to continued progress in Iberia Parish!
