Beginning Monday, September 29, 2025, South Lewis Street in New Iberia will be closed to thru traffic between Oil Center Drive and Briarwood Drive. Glenn Lege Construction, LLC will replace six culvert cross drains in this section before completing asphalt repairs and an overlay from the City Limits to Oil Center Drive.

The closure is expected to last about six weeks, weather permitting.

Detour routes are shown on the map below and include:

  • North & Southbound traffic: Weeks Island Road (LA 83) to Center Street (LA 14) back to Admiral Doyle Drive (LA 674)
  • Southbound traffic: Admiral Doyle Drive (LA 674) to Center Street (LA 14) back to Weeks Island Road (LA 83)

Updates for businesses and residents between Briarwood Drive and Oil Center Drive will be provided as the work progresses.
