The National Weather Service has indicated that the coldest air of the 2026 winter will begin arriving early Sunday morning after a series of showers passes through Iberia Parish. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing Sunday evening and remain below freezing through noon on Monday. Temperatures will again fall below freezing Monday evening into Tuesday, with wind chills dipping into the single digits.
While confidence for ice accumulation on roadways remains low for Iberia Parish, there is currently a 23% chance that less than a tenth of an inch could accumulate. Although the chance of freezing rain is low, rain falling from Saturday into Sunday may freeze on roadways, creating potentially dangerous driving conditions.
Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware, monitor local forecasts, and use caution when traveling as conditions develop.
