Election Day is Saturday, March 29, 2025, and polls in Iberia Parish will be open from 7 AM to 8 PM. Voters will decide on the renewal of the library millage, which would continue funding the Iberia Parish Library system at a reduced rate of 4.5 mills, down from the previous 6.0 mills. No millage is currently being collected, as the previous funding expired, and the library has been operating on reserve funds projected to last until March 2026.
Residents can vote at the Iberia Parish Courthouse in New Iberia or Jeanerette City Hall, depending on their precinct. The Iberia Parish Library has been a cornerstone of the community since 1947, offering essential services like computer and internet access, eBooks, career training, legal forms, test preparation, and genealogy tools.
If approved, the renewed millage would cost homeowners an estimated $11.25 per year for a $100,000 home, $56.25 for a $200,000 home, and $78.75 for a $250,000 home. Renters and non-homeowners would not be affected.
For more information about the library and its services, visit the Iberia Parish Library website or scan the QR code on the flyer below. Make your voice count and vote this Saturday!
