The National Weather Service in Lake Charles indicates that upper-level clouds are expected to move in later today and Monday night, which should prevent air temperatures from “bottoming out” and being as cold as Monday morning. At this time, a Freeze Warning for hard freeze conditions is not anticipated for Monday night. Winds are also expected to be much lighter, meaning apparent temperatures will be closer to actual air temperatures, and a Cold Weather Advisory is not anticipated.

While conditions are expected to be less severe, it will still be a cold night. Residents are encouraged to continue taking standard cold weather precautions, including protecting pets by bringing them indoors or ensuring they have adequate shelter and warmth, protecting plants by covering or bringing sensitive plants inside if possible, and checking on elderly or vulnerable neighbors to make sure they have sufficient heat.

Please remain weather aware and continue to take precautions to stay safe.
