Early voting is currently taking place in Iberia Parish, with residents having the opportunity to vote on the renewal of the library millage. Election Day is set for March 29, 2025, but voters can cast their ballots early at the following locations and times:

  • New Iberia: March 15–22 (except March 16), from 8:30 AM – 6 PM at the Iberia Parish Courthouse
  • Jeanerette: March 15, 21, and 22, from 8:30 AM – 6 PM at Jeanerette City Hall

The proposed millage renewal would continue funding the Iberia Parish Library system at a reduced rate of 4.5 mills, down from the previous 6.0 mills. Currently, no millage is being collected, as the previous funding expired, and the library has been operating on reserve funds, which are projected to last until March 2026.

The Iberia Parish Libraries provide a variety of services, including computer and internet access, eBooks, career training, legal forms, test prep, and genealogy resources. It has been a longstanding part of the community, with voter-approved funding dating back to 1947.

For homeowners, the renewed millage would translate to an estimated $11.25 per year for a $100,000 home, $56.25 for a $200,000 home, and $78.75 for a $250,000 home. Non-homeowners would not be affected.
