WHEREAS, an Emergency Order prohibiting outdoor burning throughout the Parish of
Iberia was issued on February 25, 2026 due to severe drought conditions and elevated
fire danger; and
WHEREAS, when the Parish President determines that the threat of danger and
emergency conditions no longer exist, a declared state of emergency may be terminated;
and
WHEREAS, conditions have sufficiently improved such that the prohibition on outdoor
burning is no longer necessary for the protection of the citizens of and property within the
Parish of Iberia;
NOW THEREFORE, I, M. Larry Richard, Iberia Parish President, by the authority vested
in me by the Louisiana Homeland Security and Emergency Assistance and Disaster Act
of 1993, La. R.S. 29:727 et seq., do hereby rescind the Local Emergency Declaration and
Emergency Order prohibiting outdoor burning issued February 25, 2026, this rescission
shall be effective at 12:00 noon on March 9, 2026.
IT |S FURTHER PROCLAIMED that the rescission of this prohibition on outdoor burning
does not limit the enforcement of any municipal ordinances regulating or prohibiting
outdoor burning within their incorporated limits. All citizens are encouraged to exercise
caution with outdoor burning activities and to monitor fire danger conditions through the
Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.
BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED this order is hereby issued this 10th day of March, 2026.
