The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northern Iberia Parish until 12:30 PM CST. At 9:19 AM, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that 1 to 3 inches of rain have already fallen across the area, and flash flooding is actively occurring. Additional rainfall may worsen conditions throughout the morning.
Flash flooding is being caused by heavy thunderstorms, resulting in flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying or poor drainage areas. Residents are urged to use extreme caution. Turn around, don’t drown – never drive through flooded roads. Be alert to rapidly changing conditions, avoid unnecessary travel, and monitor local updates for changes in the weather.
