Effective January 1, 2026, the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors will require a Residential Roofing License for anyone performing roofing work on residential structures valued at $7,500 or more.
Only contractors holding a Residential Construction, Building Construction, or Residential Roofing license will be permitted to bid on or perform residential roofing work.
Home Improvement license holders may not bid or perform any roof or structural work.
