Here is an update concerning the severe weather threat today.
Changes from previous update:
Slight Change in the arrival time of the squall line for Iberia Parish (7pm – 12am), ahead 1 hour.
Confidence has increased in the threat and timing of the severe weather across our area.
Overview:
WHAT: SLIGHT RISK of Severe Weather
WHEN: 7pm Sunday – 12am Monday
WHERE: Areas along and north of I-10 corridor extending south through Iberia Parish
CONFIDENCE: Confidence is high that severe thunderstorms embedded within a line of storms will develop on Sunday afternoon and move east across Louisiana.
Confidence is high in the timing of this line of thunderstorms as it arrives in our area Sunday evening.
Impacts:
Damaging Winds: Damaging winds remain the most likely threat with wind gusts greater than 60 mph. Winds of this magnitude are capable of causing damage to trees and power lines.
Tornadoes: Stronger storms embedded within this line could produce a tornado although a slight risk
Rainfall: Runoff will lead to ponding of water in low lying areas and areas of poor drainage. If the line of storms weakens before arrival, the flooding threat will decrease.
