A Flood Watch is in effect for Iberia Parish starting tonight, Friday, May 22, at 7:00 PM CDT, and will remain active through Monday evening, May 25.

  • The Hazard: Heavy, excessive rainfall is expected across the area, which may lead to localized flooding.
  • Primary Areas of Concern: Low-lying areas, locations with poor drainage, urban centers, and local rivers, creeks, and streams.
Potential Impacts & Safety Reminders:
  • Urban & Drainage Flooding: Streets and underpasses in town can accumulate water quickly. Drive with extreme caution during heavy downpours.
  • Rising Waterways: Water levels in ditches, coulees, and bayous will rise rapidly. Avoid these areas.
  • Turn Around, Don’t Drown: Never drive through flooded roadways. It only takes a few inches of moving water to sweep a vehicle away.
