The Iberia Parish Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness is monitoring a strong Canadian cold front that has moved through our area late Sunday night into early Monday morning.
What to Expect:
- Gusty Winds: Strong north winds will bring much colder air by Monday afternoon.
- Freezing Temps: Temperatures will drop into the lower 30s on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
- Wind Chill: “Feels like” temperatures will dip into the upper 20s.
Important Note: NO precipitation is expected while temperatures are at or below freezing.
Take Action – Protect the 4 P’s: We urge all residents to take standard cold-weather precautions on Monday and Tuesday nights. Remember to protect:
- PEOPLE: Check on the elderly and ensure your heating sources are safe.
- PETS: Bring outdoor animals inside or provide warm, insulated shelter.
- PLANTS: Cover or move sensitive tropical vegetation.
- PIPES: Insulate exposed pipes and faucets to prevent freezing.
Stay safe, stay warm, and stay informed. We’ll continue to monitor and share updates as needed.
