Our annual Hurricane Preparedness Meeting was held today at the Sliman Theatre, led by Brandon Migues, Director of Iberia Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. The meeting brought together municipal, parish, state, and volunteer agencies to coordinate efforts ahead of the 2025 hurricane season.
Doug Cramer from the National Weather Service Lake Charles provided a forecast briefing, followed by updates on Iberia Parish’s emergency operations, including response planning, rapid intensification trends, and community responsibilities.
Key topics included evacuation procedures, sheltering challenges, state resource expectations, and post-storm damage assessments. The meeting also highlighted the role of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and encouraged continued collaboration to enhance readiness and recovery efforts parish-wide.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to today’s Hurricane Preparedness Meeting. Your continued collaboration and dedication play a vital role in protecting the residents of Iberia Parish.
As we move into the 2025 hurricane season, staying prepared, informed, and connected remains our top priority. Together, we can ensure a stronger, more resilient community.
