From Iberia Parish President M. Larry Richard:
We are approaching the height of hurricane season and Iberia Parish Government is monitoring Hurricane Dorian, although it is not expected to threaten Iberia Parish.
Were you aware that Iberia Parish Government has many of the policies and procedure usually associated with hurricane preparedness and response posted online?
We ask that when you have a minute, you review the following to ensure that you know what to expect if you must evacuate or report to a shelter. As part of your “Game Plan,” prepare a kit with necessary items for a no-notice disaster. Some of the policies and procedures that could be of interest to you are: • General Evacuation Procedures on page 36; • Pet Evacuation and Shelter Plans on page 40; • Medical Special Needs Evacuation on page 50; • Citizens with Physical Disabilities on page 53; • Mass Care, Sheltering on page 76. We also ask that you check on neighbors that might live alone before and after a storm and ensure they’re safe.
