Iberia Parish – The NWS is currently tracking Hurricane Irma, TS Jose and TS Katia. None of these storms are a threat to Iberia Parish at this time. Due to the short notice risk that Hurricane Irma would present if it veered from its forecast track and entered the Gulf of Mexico in cooperation with the LA state government we are developing contingency plans for this scenario, but at this time there is no indication such a scenario will actually develop.
We are just half way through the peak of hurricane season. Individuals, families and businesses should continue to study and update their hurricane preparedness plans -- www.getagameplan.org is a valuable tool for this.
