The Iberia Parish Mosquito Abatement District will conduct aerial operations Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings to address mosquito populations. Starting Wednesday (8/1) evening in Grand Marais and Rynella, Thursday (8/2) evening Coteau, portions of the City of New Iberia and ending Friday (8/3) in Sugar Oaks and Loreauville. The District is asking citizens If you must be outdoors --- wear repellent, cover exposed skin and avoid outdoor activity when mosquitoes are most active. If weather conditions are favorable operations will begin near sunset and last approximately one and one-half hours (1.5). PRESS RELEASE

The Iberia Parish Mosquito Abatement District will conduct aerial operations Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings to address mosquito populations. Starting Wednesday (8/1) evening in Grand Marais and Rynella, Thursday (8/2) evening Coteau, portions of the City of New Iberia and ending Friday (8/3) in Sugar Oaks and Loreauville. The District is asking citizens If you must be outdoors --- wear repellent, cover exposed skin and avoid outdoor activity when mosquitoes are most active. If weather conditions are favorable operations will begin near sunset and last approximately one and one-half hours (1.5).
During this period, only hypersensitive individuals or persons that wish to avoid all exposure to chemicals in the designated spray area should refrain from outdoor activities; otherwise all other citizens can proceed with normal outdoor activities!
Citizens will notice low flying aircraft --- If the aircraft is overhead DO NOT attempt to follow the path of the aircraft. The aircraft is traveling quickly and will be out of the area in a brief period!
Wednesday (8/1) operations will focus in Grand Marais Rynella, Migues, Laurent, Lydia, Weeks Island Rd., College Rd., Collins Rd., Cora Ln. and all points in between.
Thursday (8/2) operations will encompass Coteau, the Acadiana Regional Airport, Coteau Rd., west to the Parish line, Romero Rd., Hwy. 90. Operations will continue, covering the City of New Iberia and surrounding residential areas. Specifically, Tete Bayou, Bernie Ln., Belle Place Olivier Rd., Morbihan, Spanish Lake, Acadian Acres, Kiper Rd., Freetown Rd., & Hwy 90 as well as all points in between.
Friday (8/3) night Sugar Oaks / Loreauville operations will focus in Sugar Oaks, Daspit, Interlaken, Vida Shaw, Loreauville, Ed Broussard and Gondron.
